William Robinson

  • William Robinson is an Australian landscape painter who is well-known for his ununusual style

  • Robinson's landscapes include multiple perspectives in a panoramic vision of the landscape

  • Rainforests, sky, hills, towering trees and water are all included in his emotive landscapes

  • His paintings portray much of the Gold Coast Hinterland environment

  • The artist comments on the importance of the local flora and fauna and his emotional ties to nature

  • Interconnectedness is incorporated, portraying Robinson's personal exploration of the rainforest

  • His landscapes blur foreground and background, varying perspectives, aerial views and ground views

"[The four canvases] represent both the seasons and the time of day . . . they are not illustrations of the Australian landscape, but rather the feeling of being in a place and having many sensations at once . . . we are looking up, down and

all around us."

William Robinson, 1987
